Online Yoga Workshop

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Every year, June 21 is recognised as International Yoga Day but due to social distancing measures adopted by most countries, the theme set by United Nations for this year is “Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home”. The World Health Organization mentions yoga as a means to improve health in its Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018–2030: More active people for a healthier world.

In lieu of this Christ college organized an online National workshop on Yoga on 24, 25 and 26 june 2020. The online session was attented by 100 participants from various schools and universities across the country. The resource person of the workshop was Ms. Pratibha Prasad Yadav, a professional yoga consultant. The theme of the workshop was Yoga at Home Yoga with Family. The objective of the workshop was to teach yoga for a healthier life and prepare people to fight against Corona.

Workshop on Best out of Waste

In order to make the student teachers aware of the uses of waste materials, and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, a workshop on Best out of Waste was conducted. In which ‘Making of Pen Holders’ and ‘a Vase with Waste Papers’ were demonstrated and thereafter students also tried to make many artifacts themselves out of waste.

Workshop on Stress and Self Management

Christ College organized a workshop on Stress Management and Self-Management on 16 March 2019. The resource persons for this workshop were Dr. Aditi Singhal, Co founder of Dynamic Minds Group and BK Sister Reena Brahmakumaris Centre head. Dr. Aditi Singhal made the student teachers aware of the meaning of stress, types of stress and the techniques to manage stress. BK Sister Reena acquainted the student teachers with the importance and the techniques of self management. Session was very interactive.

Cognizance a Workshop for Teachers

Christ College organized ‘Cognizance’, a workshop for teachers on 2 February, 2019 in collaboration with Department of Education, CMI St. Paul Province in view of acclimatizing and equipping the teaching fraternity with the upcoming advances in the teaching practices.

Resource persons for this workshop were Fr. Dr. Paul Poovathingal CMI, Director, Chetana National Institute of Vocology and Archana Chakravarthy, Professional Coach & OD Consultant.

Gender Sensitization Workshop

A one day workshop was organized on Gender issues and sensitization. The session was conducted by Ms. YASHASVI KUMUD, who is currently pursuing her Graduation in B.A. Programme, with Political Science as her discipline in Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi. She has been working on Gender and Child Rights for the past 10 years, in association with SAROKAR, a group working for gender equality and child rights, and has conducted more than 30 Workshops and Seminars with Adolescents, Teachers and College Youth on similar topics. Ms Yashasvi in her session said People are born female or male, but learn to be Girls and Boys who grow into Women and Men. They are taught what the appropriate behaviour and attitudes, roles and activities are for them, and how they should be related to other people. This learned behaviour is what makes up gender identity, and determines gender roles and responsibilities. Gender Roles vary greatly from one culture to another, and from one Social, Political, and Economic group to another within the same culture.

The session was divided into two sections, the first one dealt with know the difference and the second one dealt with ‘celebrate your existence’. Ms Yashasvi explained the entire concept through activity and she concluded the session with a song depicting the power and rights of women.

The session was attended by teachers and students from five different colleges. The session lasted for about four hours and concluded with lots of positive vibes and light refreshments.

Workshop on personality Development

Workshop on Personality and professional growth
A workshop on Personality and Professional Growth was organized on 7th September 2019. The resource person on the occasion was Mr. Dinesh Jhariya. Students were taught the qualities of a good personality and the ways to develop it. Students were also oriented to the skills that are required for professional growth. Rev. Dr. Fr. Johnson motivated students to have a decent personality and necessary skills to face the challenges of both personal and professional life. Objective of the Program: The objective of the program was to equip students to imbibe the qualities of a good personality and develop skills for professional growth.
