Teacher’s Day Celebration

Teacher’s Day was celebrated on 5th September 2019. As a mark of gratitude students greeted teachers with tilak and flowers.  Students, on the occasion performed dances and melodious songs.  Rev. Dr. Fr. Joby, the Director of the institute quoted the verse from Bible elucidate Jesus as a teacher par excellence. Principal Rev. Dr. Fr. Johnson on the occasion emphasized the importance of teachers in a student’s life. Father Joby and Father Johnson appreciated the contribution of the teachers towards the college. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan was highlighted as the ideal of all teachers.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration


Mahatma Gandhi or more lovingly called Bapu by all Indians, is internationally acknowledged for his doctrine of non-violence that led India to its glorious freedom. 2nd October is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti. To mark this day, Christ College celebrated the 151st Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October, 2020 commemorating the Mahatma’s life and teachings. The celebration for Gandhi Jayanti started with a welcome note by Ms. Pooja Shrivastava (Assistant Professor). She presented Gandhiji’s childhood stories by a PowerPoint presentation. Prof. Fr. Johnson CMI, Principal, Christ College reminished Gandhiji’s sagacity and leadership in the freedom struggle on this day. Chief Guest of the programme was Ms. Kumud Singh, Secretary, Sarokar (an NGO). In her address she reminded all the Gandhian values and their relevance in the present time.   Ms. Prerna Vyovhare, our B.Ed. student shared valuable information on the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the former Prime minister of India who shares his birthday with Gandhiji. Lal Bahadur Shastri is also fondly remembered as a worthy son of Mother India. All teachers, students & staff attended the event virtually. All our students were imbued with Gandhian values and thoughts and vowed to become better citizens of India and to grow to the stature of Gandhiji.

Onam Celebration

Onam is an annual harvest festival in the State of Kerala in India. It falls on the 22nd Nakshatra Thiruonam in the Malayalam calendar month of Chingam, which in Gregorian calendar overlaps with August–September. According to legends, the festival is celebrated to commemorate King Mahabali, who is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Christ College celebrated Onam on 11 September 2019. On the occasion Rev. Dr. Fr. Johnson greeted all the students and staff members. A movie clip showcasing the importance of Onam and the way it is celebrated throughout the country was displayed. It showed the importance of all the ten days of celebration.  The celebration concluded with a treat of Piyasam along with other delicacies.

Independence Day

On the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day, the students of Christ College organized celebrations on 15th August 2019 with unfurling the National flag and distributing sweets among the students and faculty. Students on the occasion presented patriotic songs, dance and drama. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Fr. Johnson, Principal and faculty   members.

Hindi Diwas Celebration

Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14th September 2019. On the occasion Rev. Fr. Johnson explained the relevance of the day and told the students to learn and use hindi language well. An essay writing competition and a slogan writing competition were organized with an objective to understand the importance of the language and to motivate the students to learn the language well.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration

Christ College, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 1st October 2019. Mr. Dayaram Namdev, Secretary of Gandhi Bhavan was the chief guest of the day.On the auspicious occasion students staged mime, devotional dance and skit. Students also prepared a short film ‘A Letter to Gandhiji’. To generate respect to Gandhi, the staff conducted a quiz competition on Gandhiji. The chief guest on the occasion stressed the relevance of and need for Gandhian principles in the present day. Principal Christ College, Rev. Fr. Johnson S.V. asked the gathering to learn more about Mahatma Gandhi and follow the footsteps of the Father of the Nation.

Christmas Celebration

College celebrated Christmas on 21st December 2019. The celebration began with a prayer song by Ms. Ritika followed by a welcome address by the Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson S V. CMI. He said that Christmas belongs to the people of all religions and not only to Christians. Father also shared the blessings of the Bible that is peace, love and forgiveness for all. The chief guest on the occasion was Mrs. Rani Pal, Principal, Government school, Paderia. Students on the occasion performed a skit on Christmas story – the birth of Jesus Christ, followed by foot tapping dances expressing joy and sang Christmas carols in remembrance of the Lord. Rev. Dr. Fr Joby CMI the Director of Christ College on the occasion explained how the love of God was manifested in the incarnation event. There were fun games and prizes for the students as well as teachers. The ceremony concluded with cake cutting and sharing of joyful greetings.

Republic Day Celebration

On 26th January, 2020, Christ College proudly celebrated the joy of India being a Republic. Patriotic dances, solo and group songs and speeches were presented by the students brimming with the feeling of patriotism. The zealous event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri. Kishan Lalji, the Janpad of Gram Padariya. The coordinator of the event was Ms. Arman Nisha. The event wound up with the distribution of sweets and with the motivational words of the Director and the Principal of the College.

Diwali Celebration

“It is time to remove the darkness of ignorance within us and to replace it with the light of hope and knowledge instead”.

Christ College, Bhopal enjoyed the virtual Diwali Celebration held on 14.11.2020. The celebration began with greetings of Diwali by the Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson CMI. The very presence of the Principal lit the festive mood as he gave the message that Diwali’s essence lies in the shloka ‘Tamaso ma jyotirgamaya’ which means “Lead me from darkness to light”. Similarly we have to light the lamp of happiness, the lamp of prosperity and the lamp of knowledge to dispel sorrow, poverty as well as disease. Director Rev. Fr. N.K. Dominic CMI in his address acquaint us all the literal meaning of diya and its spiritual meaning and the relevance of the festival Diwali in our life. He said that Diwali is a festival of all the religions. He elaborated the various reasons why “Diwali” is celebrated and on the cultural elements associated with this festival such as Diya, Sweets, Books of Accounts, Lakshmi Worshipping etc. and the spiritual significance was also shared. Christ College took an initiative- “Ao Khushiyon ke deep jalaen” to bring happiness and light to those who are waiting for it. They do not ask anyone for anything, but to give them happiness Christ College distributed earthen lamps, oil, candles, sweets, clothes etc. to the needy. Ms. Pooja Srivastava Asst. Professor extended the greetings of Diwali, eluciditating that on Diwali we celebrate the homecoming of Lord Ram, with his wife Sita and Brother Lakshman. She elaborated that we must imbibe the virtues of Lord Rama and must try to assimilate those in ourselves. This is the real essence of Diwali. Ms. Pooja Jain (B.Ed.) student-teacher also extended the greetings of Diwali. A special prayer was offered for those who lost their lives due to Covid 19, those who lost their jobs and to those who are suffering from this disease. The Programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Diwakar Singh, Associate Professor. The programme was coordinated by  Ms. Jaya Saini.
