To his credit there are many first in the history of the Catholic Church in Kerala: the first indigenous relgious congregation for men (CMI), the first Indian congregation for women (CMC), the first Sanskrit School, the first Catholic Printing Press and numerous other contributions in various fields. Besides the house of foundation at Mannanam, he started several houses for the dying and destitute, schools for general education and for promoting art forms not only of Christians but of other faiths attached to churches called 'Pallikoodam', were among the few of various activities under Blessed Chavara's leadership. Blessed Chavara died on January 3, 1871 in the odor of sacntity leaving behind him the high reputaiton of a very holy monk. He was declared blessed on Febraury 8, 1986 by His Holiness Pope John Paul II. Inspired by Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, CMI St. Paul Province of Bhopal established Christ College Bhopal to promote excellence and empowerment among the students who enter its portals and to create a culture of co-existence, harmony, love, truth, justice and equality.
Christ College, Anand Nagar , Bhopal, founded in 2001, is run by CMI Seva Sangh (Registered) of St. Paul Province, Bhopal, belonging to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous Congregation in India with its foundation at Mannanam, Kottayam, Kerala, India. This Catholic Religious Congregation is the embodiment of the dream and vision of Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara who was a nineteenth century visionary, educationist and social reformer in India. The Government of India honoured Blessed Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, by releasing a postal stamp in 1986 with his image. CMI Congregation with a membership of about 3000 renders its services to humanity, in
educational, social, healthcare and other activities aiming at the prosperity and well being of society. Christ College, Bhopal, is one of the four hundred plus educational institutions run by the CMI allover India which include many prestigious colleges in the country like Christ University, Bangalore, one of the top ranking Universities in the country, Amala Medical College, Thrissur, Rajagiri Engineering College, Kochi etc. Christ College, though a minority Christian Institution,
strives to input quality education empowering every section of the society
especially the weak without distinction of religion, caste, creed or colour.
Excellence and Empowerment
The specific vision of the college is inscribed in the motto; "excellence and Empowerment". It aims at a holistic approach toward excellence in every facet of this institution's life. Excellence, however, without Empowerment of the needy would be dehumanizing. Hence, Christ College wants to inculcate in her alumni a deep sense of commitment to society, especially to its weaker sections. Empowerment. on the other hand, without excellence would be sterile. Hence, Christities have to maintain a delicate balance between excellence and empowerment.

form the future educators, teachers, leaders and citizens who are

cause of justice, fraternity, liberty, equality, love, truth, peace and
communal harmony and who are ever open to further growth. The well-groomed
teachers who are leaving the portal of this temple of learning are moulded to
decipher the unique potential of a child and possess the passion to impart
imaginative, innovative and hands-on education creating a child-friendly
environment in their future institutions to carve out a promising future to the
children under their care fashioning them value based citizens useful to our
country and to the world at large.

We also aspire toward creating a just and human society where dignity of the human person is upheld, where unjust social structures are challenged, where our cultural heritage of "Ahimsa", religious and communal harmony and national integration is nurtured , and where the poor and the marginalized are specially taken care of . The well-groomed teachers Who are leaving the portal of this temple of learning are molded to decipher the unique potential of an authentic enterprising teacher‚ and possess the passion to impart imaginative, innovative and hands-on education to carve out a promising future of the students whom they have to mould in various educational institutions where they have to serve.
Christ College is
a Post Graduate College offering B. Ed and M. Ed degree Courses at present and
leaving room for further expansion in the domain of Educational Research,
Training and Teacher Enrichment Programmes including Post Graduate and higher
research programmes in Teacher Education like M. Phil, Doctorate in due course
of time. The Christ
College as affiliated to Barkatullah University (formerly known as Bhopal
University), which is a member of Association of Indian Universities, Delhi, is
bound by the rules and regulations of the University and strictly follows its
Curricula. Barkatullah University conducts both Theory and Practical
Examinations including the Viva-Voce of the B. Ed and M. Ed students and awards
the respective degrees.
|B. Ed COURSE|
Christ College is primarily a Teacher Training Institute offering one year B. Ed degree Course at present and leaving room for further expansion in the domain of Educational Research, Training and Teacher Enrichment Programmes including Post Graduate teacher education programmes like M. Ed in due course of time. The B. Ed course was opened in the college with the Permission from School Education Department of Madhya Pradesh Government, Recognition (NCTE College Code: 223222) from Western Regional Committee (WRC) of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) through a Publication in the Gazette of India -Part-III, Section-IV, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Department of Higher Education, Government of M. P. and Affiliation to Barkatullah University, Bhopal.
The Christ College as affiliated to Barkatullah University (formerly known as Bhopal University), a member of Association of Indian Universities, Delhi, is bound by the rules and regulations of the University and strictly follows its B. Ed Curriculum. Barkatullah University conducts both Theory and Practical Examinations of the students and awards the B. Ed degree. The admission to the B. Ed colleges in Madhya Pradesh is totally controlled and supervised by the Higher Education Department of the State Government of Madhya pradesh through online registration and counselling on the basis of raking in the qualifying examination marks. The minimum percentage of mark in undergraduate degree or Postgraduate is 50% for general category and 45% for SC/ST. 25% of seats in B. Ed colleges are allotted to the students from outside M.P.
Its first batch brought home a spectacular result in the University B. Ed examination with 100% pass result snatching away two University Ranks: Ranks III and VI in the University Merit List. The successive batches too are following suit with the second batch bagging the Rank II of the University Merit List of B. Ed. The trend of the glorious past is kept on through the every consecutive batches.
M. Ed COURSE
Christ College embarked upon
its prestigious M. Ed programme starting with its first Batch of 35 students
with the maximum intake during the academic year 2010-11. The National Council
for Teacher Education (NCTE) accorded recognition to the M. Ed course of one year allotting
the college code 225164 after getting the No Objection Certificate from the
Higher Education Department of M. P. followed by the affiliation to the
Barkatullah University. The qualifying examination to the admission to the M. Ed course is Postgraduate and B. Ed with 50% marks each in both the degrees. The admission is given on the basis of merit along with written tests and interviews.
